Part-Time Administrative Assistant (30 Hours)
Position Summary
Provide administrative assistance to the Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Ministry Volunteers by assisting in the planning and execution of small- and large-church tasks. This position requires the assistant to be available and organized, work excellently with the different ministries, and in general possess good interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM with 1 hour pause for lunch.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Greet those who come into the office, answer their questions, give needed assistance, or refer them to the proper staff or church leader
- Maintenance and organization of reception area making sure area is kept neat and professional
- Answer all incoming phone calls, screening and routing to appropriate individuals
- Pick up, distribution and dissemination of all mail and correspondence
- Maintain and up-date all standard forms and ministry literature
- Organization and maintenance of church calendar for all church events
- Update weekly bulletins, print and fold; print weekly inserts if available
- Work with Worship Director to prepare order of the service for the weekend services
- Gathering information from those that have input (Pastor, Nursery/Children/Youth Ministries, WMU, etc.) and assembling that information to create a professional looking Monthly Newsletter
- Keep accurate membership records in REALM (new members, baptisms, weddings, deaths, etc.) and assist the church clerk
- Maintain Church website
- Provide clerical visitor follow-up, prepare new members information packets, coordinate church events (notify appropriate staff or committees)
- Notify all Pastoral Staff and Chairman of the Deacons of member hospitalizations, deaths, etc.
- Serve as contact person to coordinate church funerals
- Give clerical support to all church staff, volunteers, church programs and church committees;
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
Qualifications and Requirements
- Demonstrates a passionate love for the Lord
- Desires to serve our Church family and ministries
- Is a strong team player able to work well with volunteers
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the commitment to the OBC statement of faith, vision, and beliefs
- Maintains discretion and professionalism
- Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exhibits the ability to work independently
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Administrative Assistant or other similar position
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products such as Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point, as well as Canva, Realm, Proclaim, etc.

- Light to moderate lifting (up to 15 lbs.) is required.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
