Are you willing to wait on God?

Eating uncooked or undercooked food can cause serious health issues. That is why we have guidelines on cooking time for all kinds of dishes and meals. To achieve the best flavor, certain dishes have to be cooked for hours. When it comes to our lives, we can use the same principle, if we rush on decisions or are impatient to wait for results, we may get disappointed, fall short of expectations, even miss a great opportunity. Patience always bring rewards.

Isaiah 64:4 "Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him".

One of the most precious things of my Mother's is her handwritten note in the margin of her Bible. She wrote, "God's timing is always right". Amen. Amen. Just think of Abraham and Sara waiting for their son. They ran ahead of God and had Ishmael. What a mess that was! Even today the descendants of those brothers are still fighting. Think of Noah and how long it took him and his three sons to build the ark. No cranes, no chain saws, no nails, no drills, and yet they patiently obeyed God's instruction. When the rain did come, they were prepared. Think of Caleb. He was one of the ten spies who wanted to defeat the enemies but the other 10 spies were too scared to obey God. When Caleb was 80+, the others had died off; he was still ready to claim his promised land. He wanted the hill country-the hardest of all, not the plains. It think he lived for the day when he and his family could claim their inheritance. We live in a very inpatient world. We have instant potatoes, oatmeal, veggies, beverages, squeezed juices, milk, dehydrated items and who knows what else. We seem to be too busy to prepare healthy foods so we have drive-through lanes and pick-up windows. Mothers don't know how to buy dry beans, soak them and cook for super. Oh, I forgot to include microwavable items... Any kind and any flavor! It is a challenge to wait for God's timing... Are you willing to wait for His best? You know a cardiologist has studied 12-18 years after high school to be able to treat your heart ailments. Aren't you glad he/she was willing to study that long? I urge all of us to decide to wait on the Lord's timing in all our ways. Now, that does not say to us, do nothing... And just wait. Be busy with your preparation as God sends it. I feel the best counselors are the ones who they themselves had been through fiery trials of life. One time I was encouraging a surgical patient to get up and do his walking. He began to complain of his belly pain and I foolishly said, "I know how you feel". He glared at me and asked if I had ever had my belly cut wide open? Well, no. He exclaimed, "Well, you---don't know how it hurts!" I admitted to him that I really didn't. I never said that to a patient again... because I really didn't know... Some dear friends waited for eight years before having their first child. When she married, how thankful her parents were that she was born when she was. Her husband was as well. Don't waste precious time wishing things were different; enjoy each day now and keep an open heart for God's timing in your life. We all know of people who waited too long to take a planned trip and then it was too late. Be sensitive to God's timing while waiting and move forward when the time is right. Paul says in Galatians 4:4 about the birth of Christ: "in fulness of time God sent His son, made of a woman." At the right time, Jesus came. Be patient with God. He knows the right time. If you are having a challenge right now waiting on God to move, continue to walk in faith, knowing His timing is always right.
