Refreshing Times

A busy life can take a toll. We all need a time to rest, to laugh, to enjoy nature, and to enjoy friends. When it was the last time you went out with your friends for girl time or guys time! If you don't remember, it times to plan your next get together!

Hebrews 2:4 "God testifies of His power through signs, wonders, and various miracles, and gifts of he Holy Spit distributed according to His will."

Look around you at the beautiful things God has created for us to enjoy. The flowers, trees, butterflies, birds, bees, ants, and even the insects! So many colors of flowers to enjoy. So many butterflies and birds. I am amazed to see the peach butterflies come to the peelings I throw them out. They only come around these peelings. (I hope you throw out all your veggies wastes to replenish the earth) The bees and the butterflies cross pollinate our flowers, fruits and veggies for us. Plant two  kinds of squash near each other and watch for the yellow-green ones! Not only does God give us beauty for our eyes to see and our senses to smell. He gives us the Comforter who is the Holy Spirit . When I reflect on the many times God through the Holy Spirit has lifted my troubled soul or brought a special thought to my troubled heart! Just last week I was developing a talk for a ladies' group and really asking for help. Suddenly I thought of an illustration for the verses I was using. What a blessing to have inside help!

Recently a friend offered the use of her family beach house for a few of us ladies to go and just have some girl time. We had several sweet days of just talking, sharing our hearts, eating, and window shopping. We took turns preparing our meals with stuff we had bought. Two would cook and the other two would clean up. We watched a few tearful movies and cried together. It was like olive oil poured over a scratchy arm-so soothing to our souls. We had dinner together again just last night. We need friends! God did not make us to be lone rangers, but to be a main member of a posse! Call a friend to come over and bring some left-overs - enjoy the time together. I remember as a child going down to Mr. Vick and Mrs. Sara's with my parents. Mr. Vick was cooking his pig for bar-be-que and we kids just played all evening! Now today, the parents are all gone to glory, but you can eat at Shealy's right there. After the demand for his pigs became so great, they opened Shealy's. The rest is history! Sit down and reflect on the many times God has blessed you and the Holy Spirit has encouraged you through sudden thoughts or fantastic friends. Don't wait on others to plan your get-together-you assume that role. Praise Him!

PS. Since I wrote this entry, these beach ladies have arranged a mountain trip. I mean mountain trip! The cabin was the next to last one on the side of the mountain. We twisted and turned, up and over and around before we arrived at the hillside destination. In fact, I got lost and Debbie had to come to meet me and lead me to it. After unloading I found a book on the shelf that devoured my time. You must read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers! I read the 367 pages in less than 24 hours. It is the story of the book of Hosea and God's love for us. Guess you could say we had an adult sleep over!
